March 25, 2015

having been raised by indian parents in western countries, we wanted to showcase our indian culture at the wedding while highlighting our modern and contemporary side too. We went for a traditional indian look for the ceremony with lots of reds, golds and yellows incorporated into the drapery and flowers - using vibrant colours that are often associated with south-asian events. there was also a subtle elephant theme running throughout the wedding, with golden elephants standing guard at the mandap, prints on the wedding programs and elephant shaped trinket boxes as wedding favours for guests. For the reception, we wanted a modern look, with crystal chandeliers and a silver, white and black colour palette, using red accents for the centre pieces and floral displays. We also brought in 8ft indian elephant statues to the Fermenting cellar to give the modern venue an eastern touch.
